Roof beams and rafters were positioned at unusual angles and overhang(s) in order to further illustrate a tree-like motif within the structure.

Salvaged tree trunks (bush poles) were utilised in order to soften the industrial aesthetic 
of the shed. 

BOWER STUDIO

A community development project, aimed at expanding ‘Uncle Rick’s shed’. The program included the construction of a deck and veranda on the shed's north.

Attempting to incorporate solely recycled materials, most resources were sourced from a local salvage yard in Castlemaine, Victoria (Djaara Country).

The project spanned three weeks, and served as many individuals' first extensive experience with power tools and construction techniques.

Emu track-prints were additionally cast into the structure's footings, following Uncle Rick's request, in order to illustrate the local species' migration patterns.

A schematic model was utilised to convey our proposal to the community.
